National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) Themes, Tips, and Resources

October was National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. This annual campaign to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity has been jointly sponsored by the National Cybersecurity Division of the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (a non-profit organization) since 2004. Together, they address a variety of topics for small businesses, law enforcement, young professionals, government, and companies in different industries.

The main topics for National Cyber Security Awareness Month for 2017 were:

  1. Simple Steps to Online Safety

  2. Cybersecurity in the Workplace is Everyone's Business

  3. Today's Predictions for Tomorrow's Internet

  4. The Internet Wants YOU: Consider a Career in Cybersecurity

  5. Protecting Critical Infrastructure from Cyber Threats

The Department of Homeland Security also provided NCSAM tips and resources through their Stop.Think.Connect. Toolkit. They offer various toolkits for different audiences including industry and small businesses.
